The Eugene Highlanders at Winston Games...practice makes perfect?
Decided to go listen to pipes one evening, and there it was, my old tenor drum, and sticks so I practiced a bit with the band. Eric said they were going to The Winston Highland Games and didn't I want to go with them? Yes, I did. Went camping overnight, four shows, two short parades. Were my legs tired? You bet! Grand time.

A few of us played at Shrewsbury Renaissance Faire near Corvallis, attendees in interpretations of 15th century medieval costume...swords, armor, ladies with laced bodices. Got to sing with audience an old Irish song, and later got kids to come up to play drums and tambourine along with the piper.

Next came the Eugene Highland Games on a warm October day after a rainy night...Perfect weather for caber tossing, sheep dog demonstrations, Irish and Scottish dance, piping and drumming, food booths, vendors of all kinds, clan booths...Most excellent! I recruited several new members into the band! Did I say men in kilts? Hooray!

Sadness of recent events in Roseburg has not been forgotten. The Oregon Color Guard carried the flags & Oregon's was at an angle, indicating half staff. Hard to play Amazing Grace without tears.

This Thursday, some of this band will play Amazing Grace for memorial service on UCC campus, followed by Scotland The Brave.

Here's tae the brave among us.
