Last year: tomatoes in October
Yesterday I picked up more exotic tomato plants at Saturday Market. Last year's fun was growing an assortment of stripped and otherwise oddly colored tomatoes.. slowest ones were the Berkeley Tie Die (probably stoned), took 85 days to produce. Late cold spring was a slow start. I covered things every night in October to get them to ripen... Japanese Chocolate Truffle tasted, yep, like tomatoes, lovely dark maroon. I canned tomato peach salsas and sugarless ketchup of various colors...yummmm
